Wind Energy Companies

Over the centuries, man has harnessed the energy of wind to help him with all types of tasks and chores. What wind energy companies exist today and how are they helping us to use wind power to replace our current dependency on petroleum, coal, and other not-renewable fuel resources?

Here are a few wind energy companies making waves today:

BP Wind Energy in combination with it's partner Energy, Inc. has recently completed what they call phase I of a commercial project, called the Sherbino Wind Farm, that they estimate could generate enough electricity too fully power over forty thousand homes in the U.S. According to President Robert Lukefahr, "wind energy is one of America's most plentiful and important natural resources. The Sherbino wind farm will produce clean, renewable electricity for the next twenty years."  BP is specializing in implementing it's new technology in wind generated energy for home worldwide.

American Superconductor (Stock symbol AMSC) is considered one of the leading wind energy companies. They specialize in designing and producing wind turbine components and wind energy systems. They have recently announce a new product, the PowerModule PM3000W power converter, which is described as a combination of wind turbine design and power grid operation expertise. American Superconductor has already sold thousands of these systems to countries all over the world - another indication that companies have already begun to take renewable energy seriously.

Otter Tail (stock symbol OTTR) is another wind energy company being followed closely by investors and speculators. It's clear that wind energy is going to be a major part of helping the United States to reduce its dependency on non-renewable energy sources. But also, wind is a perfectly clean energy source. Otter Tail is in the forefront of developing systems to use wind energy to generate electricity and help to wean us off of our oil dependency.

Clipper Windpower, is a fast growing wind energy company based in the UK.  THey build and market wind turbines and are heavily invested in wind energy technologies and research. In addition to the UK, they also have offices in the U.S, Denmark, and Mexico. Currently, Clipper Windpower's stocks are traded on the London Stock Exchange. However, currently, if you are an American citizen, you can't purchase their stock shares.

Zoltek (stock symbol ZOLT) is the leading supplier of the carbon fibers used in building the largest and most advanced wind turbines. Because of the high quality of their fibers, their base of customers is constantly expanding  The quality of the carbon fibers is important as they help to reduce the manufacturing costs for companies that use them in the building of large wind turbines.

Wind energy has been used for centuries, often to churn grain and other agricultural products. It was a popular alternative to watermills in dry places such as the southern United States and Mexico, and that's what most people think of when they imagine windmills, large structures with a fan spinning from the wind. Today, however, wind is being used on a much greater scale than many ever imagined. With further research, it's only a matter of time before it becomes difficult to imagine a time when wind power was not a natural part of our ecosystem.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Wind Energy
Talk of developing alternative energy sources such as wind energy, is very popular these days. But what are the advantages and disadvantages of wind energy?

Renewable Energy India
India is the world's most populous country which gives a special urgency to it's need to find renewable energy sources.
